They want to supervise what you're doing and make sure you don't drown or something (hee hee hee). Seriously, its quite a common thing with cats that are very attached to their guardians. Mine do it too.

Interesting question.
I don't think it is imperative for your cat to be in the bathroom with you. She just wants to and it's not unusual. It's probably out of affection as she likes to constantly be with you. When she fishes under the door with her paws, she probably thinks of it as a game and just wants to play.
All cats have their own personalities and not all of them want to visit the bathroom with their owner. Take my Aunt Pauline for instance. She had an outhouse. You could smell that thing from miles away and her cat wouldn't be caught anywhere near it. We used to have to burn that ol' poop shack down once a year and, man, that sucker would burn for days. Then we would build her a new one. I guess she ate a lot of Cheezies and drank a lot of Gin. I digress.
Anyways, don't worry too much about your cat. I would be much more concerned if it was you who had to follow your cat to her bathroom.

My friend Denise's cat does this too! I told her I think the cat knows the owner will be sitting there a few minutes and can't go anywhere, so he/she will be able to pet the cat! And I also think it's because your cat loves you. If your cat goes in the bathroom at other times, it may be for fresh running water (toilet or maybe leaky faucet somewhere).

I think all cats do this. Maybe because you are confined and HAVE to pay attention to her? Mine always liked me to pet them while I was on the can. LOL!

they just want attention from you because they love you so much and are happy where they are. They are attached. Mine is like that too, that's why we named it shadow because it likes to follow her mama which is me everywhere I go.
