Three things...
Give him some Benadryl or generic Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride.
Also, drink LOTS of water. This will help flush the allergin out of his system.
Lastly, stop taking that antibiotic & call your doctor.
Good luck.

I agree with the first answer in that he may want to take benedryl to help with the itching and redness. But his doctor needs to be told about this reaction and it needs to be put in your husband's record so that he won't be given this type of antibiotic again.

Also, if your husband starts to experience any difficulty in breathing or wheezing he will need to go to the ER right away. Allergies to antibiotics are fairly common but the can at times be very serious. If he continues to have itching and discomfort or if it gets worse be sure to call his doctor and let him know.

I'm sorry about your husband. Has he had allergy tests recently? It might be that he is allergic to latex gloves that nurses use when they touch your skin for a shot. Is it around that area? Did the doctor touch you with latex gloves? Investigate or contact your doctor right now? Take benedryl. It helps for itching or put some calomine or caladreyl or hydrocortosine or cortaid on the itchy skin.
