yea, as long as you have someone to check on him and give him fresh food and water daily if not twice a day. if he is not tame he will probably enjoy the alone time to get to know his new surroundings, stress free. have fun on your new years!

If you are going to have a reliable friend stop by and check on it and take care of it every day, that is fine. Leave detailed written instructions for your friend with the number of your local avian vet in case of problems.

However, you could not leave it without it being taken care of by a friend. Too much can happen to a bird in 2-3 days. If it ran out of food or water, birds have such high metabolisms that it would be a medical emergency for a tiny budgie in as little as 12 hours! Birds have a way of contaminating (pooping in) their food and water, too - not good to leave it like that for 3 days! Plus, it could get its foot stuck in a toy, etc., with no one to help it. As far as I am concerned, no bird should EVER be left alone without a human checking on it for more than 24 hours.

This is the third time tonight you are starting to get some what annoying,

I Would never leave my birds on their own even if it is for 3 days

BUT

If you are 100% sure a friend will check on it that should be fine just make sure they change the food and water incase it poo's in the water and stuff!

Normally, this would be alright but since you mentioned that you got it a week ago, don't.This isn't a good idea because you just got him and he needs to get used to you. Leaving him will traumatize him and it will make training more difficult. Also, I'm not exactly a pro, but I have had experience in parakeets. If you ever have any questions, e - mail me

He might get a little confused and lonely but as long as he has enough food and water he should be okay... I had a similar situation when I got my bird. We'd had him for about 2 weeks and we had to go away for the weekend so I left him at my friends house so he wouldn't be alone..

Yes it will be perfectly fine as long as it has plenty of water and food. I myself have four and they do perfectly fine on there own when I am not there. It is great that you will be having someone check in on it they can give fresh water and food if needed. Your bird will miss you, but it will be perfectly fine. =)

Oh and the 3rd answer up. They will not forget about you, sure they will miss you but you will not be neglecting it. 2-3 days is not long at all.

i don,t see why you can,t just make sure you leave the bird some food and water that will last till you get back. make sure you don,t leave the heat to high inyour house. hey leave the tv on so it think some ones there , thats what i did when i had a bird. or you could ask some one you trust to take care of it till you get back you won,t worry so much while you are gone.

Actually, it's just fine. I've left my birds for a whole weekend and they were okay. Leave several cups of food and lots of water.

If you're uncomfortable with that, then ask one of your neighbors to check on them while you're gone.

Well, I wouldn't leave my pet alone if it's only one. They get bored real quick and then? Buy him a friend.
