I mean really, Kitty purrs and gives kisses and drools when I get home, but sometimes she gives me that look, and if you have a cat you know what look I am talking about, that "I hate you and wish you were dead look".

So is she happy or not? How do you tell?

oh, i know that look all too well. i am fairly sure that look means "woman, you better sleep with one eye open tonight! you left me home all alone ALL DAY LONG and now i am happily plotting your revenge!!" lucky for us, cats have very short memories and forget all about the nasty death plotting when we give them attention, love and food!!

A cat pretty much lets you know how he/she feels by her tail. If her tail is up and especially if it's turned at the top like a question mark, he/she is very happy. If his/her tail is hanging down and especially if the ears are back like "airplane ears", you have an angry or unhappy cat. Cats will purr when they are happy, but also when they are scared or unsure of what is going on. I also think if your cat seeks you out, he/she wants your attention and is happy to get it.

I know my cat is happy and OK when he holds his head up, ears up, whiskers slightly forward, tail up and perpendicular, and a very alert look in the eye. Content and sleepy when laying down on tummy, ears up, head horizontal and proud, eyes in slits and paws tucked in. Depressed when laying on tummy too quietly in a dark corner, head droopy, turns head away when you give attention, eyes a bit "dead."

The purring is usually a sigh of pleasure or contentment. But sometimes, cats purr to comfort themselves when they are in pain or sick.

if they purrs and gives kisses that means they are happy. otherwise they might having stomachache....
My dad gives pain killer for pets when he thinks the dogs are sick. Well they usually starts chewing grass if they are not feeling well.

And cats, when you wanted to play with them, but instead of purrs and clingging around your leg, they are not happy, then just leave them along.

they purr, knead, lick,"head butt" where they will turn their head, and push it against a human (or another cat), rubbes on you,and sometimes they take small bities on your arm which are completely harmless which are sort of like kisses (my cat does it all the time), sometimes what you think your cat does is evil MAYBE it's a way of showing they might love you. heck i don't know whats wrong with your cat

Heck, if mine eat, sleep, and load the litter box...they are happy. They give the "look" all the time. It is part of being a cat.

mine do that too when i get home from work late. after i spend some time with my girls they come around and get their loving then get in their beds and sleep. when she stops purring and kissing you then worry, but i'm sure you don't have to worry about anything. they love you.
