Any age. Both our girls went from a crib to a twin bed. If you push one side flush against the wall and have a guardrail on the other side, the chances of falling out of bed are pretty slim.

I baby-sit and there are 2 1/2 year olds still in a toddler bed. But then in another family, there is a 10-month old in a twin size bed. It just depends on the child and when they are ready. Talk to the child about switching and whenever they want to, let them. they should be in a twin size bed by the age of 3 though. When they start to climb out of the crib, I think thats the time for a twin size bed.

It really doesn't matter. But if the child is too long for the toddler bed (which is what happened with my daughter at 3 1/2) then I would switch to the twin.

i think it depends on your child... can she get out of a regular sized bed without falling and getting hurt? will she stay in a bed and not go wandering around in the middle of the night? I'm trying to decide when to switch my soon to be 2 yr old to a toddler bed... she hasn't climbed out of the crib yet and she still has plenty of room in it, but she's starting to ask for blankets and a pillow... so I think it's about time. Just listen to your child and your own judgement.

My oldest went straight from the crib to a twin bed at 9 months. Of course I had pillows every where but i was tired of him climbing out of his crib and falling to the floor. A toddler bed is "cute" but I think it is what you and your child are comfortable with.

My daughter was in a twin bed before she was a year old. She had attempted to climb out of her crib and fell very hard on the floor. After that she wouldn't sleep more than a few minutes in the crib. I didn't want her in the habit of sleeping with me so I used my old twin mattres with bedrails I purchased from ToysRUs on the bedframe. She slept and everything was fine.

As soon as they start climbing out of their crib. My son was 2 1/2 when we put him into a regular bed. We bought the bed rails so he wouldn't fall out.
