See, isn't that silly? One should have to live by all of his laws, but then they have no idea what they are... Now who's fault would that be...?

Matthew 22:34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Hi Angel,
I can tell your sincerity, but I will share something with you that might shock you:
Most of the "laws" we are taught are God's law are MEN's laws.
Conveniently, MEN took SOME of the laws from the Bible and are still using them to control other people's lives.
Their favorites are those that are sexually related or have to do with worshiping the God of their image.
If you want to read ALL the laws in the Bible, go to Leviticus. There are about 800 of them.
Churches take the ones they can most use to control people and preach them.
Since they were all written at the same time and under the same circumstances, I have often wondered about that.
Recently, I have come across an excellent book that brings insight into the history of the bible and some of the teachings in it that are used today.
The book is:
Sins of Scripture (The terrible texts in the Bible exposed) by Shelby Spong, ex-bishop of Newark.
Whereas he is NOT anti-Christian, quite the opposite, he makes a case for Christians to wake up, stop believing in and preaching lies, and take religion out of Christianity.
If you get hold of the book, you'll see what I mean, and it will clear up many if not all of your questions.
Sorry I can't copy the whole book here nor go into too many details.

Jews believe there are 613 Commandments.
Christians often quote the 10 Commandments.
Some Christians say Jesus only gave 2 Commandments.
Jesus should have worked for Reader's Digest Condensed Books.

yours, for not researching.
heres a list of the laws of the old testament,
http://www.jewfaq.org/613.htm
the only ones on the list that cannot currently be observed, are due to the fact that the temple doesn't exist, or similar situations.
though some would say that since the relevant circumstances aren't there, then its not... not-observing them, but that you simply don't have the circumstances which to observe them with.
if your supposed to do something in xyz circumstances, ... you can't be wrong for not doing it, if you are never given those circumstances.

1. Thou shalt love the lord thy God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.
2. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and prophets.

I'd say the most important is Love Thy Neighbor. Also, it's the most abused of His laws: the Crusades, for example.

Most Christians will tell you that verses commanding you to stone disobedient children, that its ok to own slaves, etc "don't matter" because they're in the Old Testament; yet they'll spend hours trying to defend Genesis.

We could not live up to his laws and were all found guilty and the wages of our sin is death. It is the reason that God himself paid the penalty of death for those who accept the atonement he provided through Jesus Christ. to be saved one needs to realize he is a sinner and is unworthy and repent of his sin and accept that Jesus died to pay the penalty for us and by faith we say we are new creatures in him.
