I think all it takes is regular exercise (especially activities that work your entire body), combined with sensible eating. I have been dancing and swimming regularly for about 4 years, and my stomach muscles have developed quite nicely! Not that I was after a flat stomach or anything - I was only 13 when I started exercising seriously.
Find some sports or activities that you enjoy and stick to them. Hopefully, over time your stomach will get flatter and more muscular. Good luck! :o)

Why do women always have to have a very flat tum ? Is it just the model look, vanity or just looking fit for the guys ? I dont understand it at all. I am 5' 10'' and weigh just over 10 stone, in my fifties, had 4 kids, and would love to put some weight on. Come on girls give the guys some love handles for them to hold, thin is not attractive and most guys will tell you this.

Serious amounts of weights, cardio and regular small, fat-free meals. 1000% committment to the next year off your life.
Ideally you need a personal trainer as well.
If you really want the 4 pack, as well as a flat stomach,
you'll have to give up your job, and social life, and do nothing but following an excerise/diet regime.

For me it took a lifestyle change. You have to really dedicate yourself to exercise to burn off the fat that covers those muscles. If you do crunches, reverse crunches, and other abdominal exercises combined with cardio and diet you could acheive your goal
