I agree with the rose is rose but I would say montagne like: montany(a) as though you're about to say the 'a' but then just stop before you do. So thus, the 'y' is pronounced as though there is an 'a' after it even though there isn't.

We don't roll the "Rs" in French (except maybe some old people in some areas). If you can't do the French "R" (which would be understandable), just do an English one at the beginning.

The first answer from " Intel_Knight ... " is correct and he even provided help with how to pronounce the " gne". I always use the
" onion " to teach my students that sound but " Nuke " works just as well.
