It's like they skipped that whole part of spirituality, possibly the most important exercise ever.

Faithful, you're missing the whole point of meditation as it is in essence freeing oneself of the mind instead of becoming totally identified with it. Can you turn the off button off of your mind? If not, your mind is controlling you.

As far as denomination goes I'm not sure. But as a christian, who is Southern Baptist, my belief system is that if you are meditating the focus is inward and your focus should always be on God not deep breathing and mind/body connection as meditation and even yoga teaches. Praying and meditation are two different things. At least that is what I have always been taught.

The meditation of Christians is much different than cult meditation which may use a mantra. Webster defines meditate as "1: to focus ones thoughts on: reflection or ponder over 2: to plan or project in the mind ... : to engage in contemplation or reflection." The greek word logizomai is translated various ways, but is translated meditate (NKJ) and think (KJ) in Phil. 4:8. Vines says of logizomai in Phil. 4:8 "it signifies 'make those things the subject of your thoughtful consideration,' or 'carefully reflect on them.'"

Im not sure what you mean by mediation? I keep my mind focused on JESUS.. I listen to christian music only, I read the bible and also other books on end times... I pray .. I attempt to keep my mind on HIM not things of this world.. Greater is HE in me then he that is in the world..
