In the past I used to be boy/girl crazy...obsessing over trying to get into "relationships". I never had a relationship before...but now I don't want to have one in high school. I'm perfectly happy with myself. A lot of the high school people seem to "go out" with each other...but they only last a few months. My opinion is that relationships are overated. I have high standards and all I want is a soulmate that I can marry. So my question is it okay to not have a relationship in high school? Also I'm curious what are relationships actually like? What do you do? Are they that "great"?

I absolutely agree with you!
People in my class "go out" and have "boyfriends" that last from a few hours to a couple weeks at best! The're not going to marry these people! What's the point? They still sit in their boxers and play videogames on Sundays... There's no point to it.
And if you do "go out" with someone, just make a friend. Go have fun! You don't need anything more in High School. Think about it. Years from now it will be such a young age and so far back.

I know exactly how you feel. I dated a lot in junior high and I now I'm in high school and I feel like I've got my fill. The guys in high school aren't much different than any other guys and surprise! they won't change much more the rest of your life. I know what it's liek to be in a serious relationship though and it's kinda emotionally draining. It requires attention, but it doesn't feel like a chore because you love the person. I don't miss it though because I'm a more confident person than I used to be when I was dating more. I guess relationships are "great" in the big picture but in the middle of a fight the last thing on your mind is how "great" your significant other is.

My answer is yes it is okay not to have a relationship in high school. You shouldn't be in a relationship with somebody if you do not have feelings for them its not something you should just do. Relationships take alot of work and time. They are great if you have true feelings for that person so it depends.

it's FINE not to have a relationship in highschool. i never wanted one, and look, here i am with a guy who wants to get married someday. O.o
relationships are... well, it all depends on the person. like i feel a bit smothered, even though we've got plently of space. i have no idea why. :P
unless your relationship is physical as well, all you really do is talk and snog and talk lovey dovey nonsense to each other. other than that, it's basically a friendship with snogging included.
no, they're not that great, from my opinion, but w/e. some people i know can't stand to be IN a relationship, others can't stand to be WITHOUT a relationship. it all depends on who you talk to.

Trust me, they aren't "that great." My high school relationshop ended with me being pregnant my senior year of high school, getting married too soon, and getting divorced in the end. It just wasn't worth it. The best advice to tell you is to have lots of "friends." By that, I mean you can go to dances and hang out with people of the opposite sex, and just explain--you like them as a friend but not as anything else. It's a lot cooler when you have friends of the opposite sex instead of dating someone just to look good and fit in. Have fun in school, don't waste your time on meaningless relationships that get you nowhere!

yes it's ok not to be in a relationship in high school.well i'm not the person to tell u what relationships are like(unless u get a person that when ur alone with that person they make u feel like the only person in the world....not that i've had that...but i've been pretty close)

Yea, If you don't find the right person that's fine. And yes they are amazing, if you have the right person. Relationships with the wrong people never last very long.

relationships are nice, but its up to you. i had one steady boyfriend in hs and i sometimes wonder what i missed out on. If you feel its not worth it, don't waste your time. If someone comes at you that way just make it very clear that you are friends only. There is no harm done.

I think alot of people will applaud you, and if you can stick it out until you are graduated finish college and get your career going there will be some many people to be proud of you and then mr wright will be waiting for you.
