Green card process has three steps

a. Labor certification unless you hold a PhD or have been transferred on L1 in a responsible position i.e. Senior Manager or above.

b. I140

c. Adjustment of status.

Last step (Adjustment of status) takes the longest depending upon the visa availability for your country. I believe for Philippines it is long line.

You are looking at 5 years.

NO you are not! lol

Do not not not listen to that...

When an employer petitions, those applications have been known to go through quicker than if one was to apply for Permanent Residency based on a family based petition. Why? I guess because US Employers have more pull.

Depending on where your application is received, depends on how long it can take. Here is a list of current processing times:

California Service Center: Currently working on the ones they received on September 14 of 2006. If your application is received there, you are looking at a 4 month wait at this time.
Nebraska Service Center: They are currently working on the ones they received in May of 2006. So there is an approximate 7-8 month wait.
Texas Service Center: They are working on June of 2006. So around 6 months.
Vermont Service Center: They do not receive employment based applications, therefore any sent to the Vermont Service Center would be forwarded to one of the above Service Centers.

Unfortunately you cannot choose which center you send your application to. It depends on the jurisdiction over your area. These processing times can change, just depending on how many people are working and how many applications are AT that service center. Therfore, you may want to check back periodically for yourself to check on the dates. They are updated biweekly on USCIS' website at www.uscis.gov. If you have any questions, you should consult that website, or even call the customer service number to speak with someone live about the situation.

Good luck!!!
