but he says he would rather go back on the 30th because he would have to take an extra day holiday in order to spend new years with me and he doesnt want to change plans of the friend who will be picking him up from the airport. i am hesitant to ask him because i dont want to be controlling or use emotional blackmail to get him to stay if he doesnt want to..yup i am that 'looser mom'./.plz someone, advice a practical and to the point technique to express my views

I know how you feel, mom, but you gotta let them go. He probably wants to be with his friends on New Years. He already knows your views, don't make him go through that whole "scene". Try to find something to do on New Years Eve yourself, and give him a big kiss goodbye.....til next time!
