It's warm air that oxidises the tea leaves and creates more of the phenolic compounds that give you the flavour. The tea already comes to you well oxidised (black after fermentation) so I'm not sure if any more warm air will really change the tea much but it might. In the glass jar in the sun the teabags will be surrounded by warm air so it's possible that further oxidation will occur and strengthen the flavour. You could try it and see.

My favourite tea is PG Tips. I make it in the cup with the milk in before the boiling water. I like one cube of sugar and I like the tea to be strong. Delicious...I don't know if you can get PG Tips in american supermarkets.

Only if it is warm out. The water needs to get hot to steep(get the flavor out) the tea bags. You can do the same thing with a drip coffee maker. Put your tea bags in the filter and run a pot of water through it. Tastes just about the same and only takes 5 minutes.

yes, the heat from the sun makes the tea release. I quit making sun tea. I brew mine in the coffee pot. I use Lipton in the family bag size and brew one bag per pot of water. I then add one cup sugar to the pitcher before I put it in the fridge. Everyone loves mines. I have to keep two gallons on hand at all times.

Strength of tea depends on 2 things, amount of tea used, and steeping time. Warm water will leech the elements from tea leaves faster. If you were to put a tea bag in a cup of warm water and one in a cup of cool water for one minute, the one made in the warm water would be stronger. If, however, you allow tea to steep in cool water for a longer period, the water will eventually brew tea to the same strength as that made with warm water. Putting your water in the sun will warm it, and reduce your brewing time.

no. in the lone star state we call it texas tea. we also call oil texas tea. anyway, it actually is weaker than the traditional british way of using boiling water to "steep" the tea. to make it stronger you would have to add more tea bags which is getting more expensive these days. always use tetley like the do on the britcoms. love everything british. in colony days they keep their tea in a heavy oak box with a strong lock. it was costly and demand was intense. the answer again, is sun tea isn't stronger. it is milder. no bite. i like bite. that is all.
