E. coli: 20 minutes.

If a single E. coli cell could be left to multiply unchecked (if limiting factors were not present- I.e; nutrition, space, bacteriophages, etc) for 48 hours, how heavy a mass do you think would be formed by the end? Answer: 6x the mass of the planet earth. It's true due to the exponential growth pattern, but could never happen: bacteriophages can wipe out billions of them in minutes...
