Depends on the quality of paint, but the best way to determine what you need is to measure the room.Height times Length times # of walls. Any Paint store (Sherwin Williams) will be able to help you with your selection. A gallon of paint claims to cover between 300 - 400 sq ft, but since you are not a painter, only a home owner , you will use a gallon in about half that. You should always prep the walls before prime, and sand the walls after prime, re-prime and then paint in a smooth up and down motion with a 1/2 inch fine nap roller cover, being certain to keep your roller wet and rolling.(not sliding) It doesn't hurt to apply a second coat of paint the next day.

It depends on the quality of paint you are buying. In Illinois a gallon of paint can range anywhere from $11-$20/gallon (also depends on the store you are buying at). For the size of room you are painting, I am going to assume you are going to apply two coats to ensure the paint is applied evenly and to cover up any dribbles there may be. If this is the case, go with two gallons of paint. This should be sufficient. Keep in mind though that if you are applying a lighter color over a darker color you will want to primer the area you are painting with at least one coat of Kilz. Kilz works as a primer but also kills mold and mildew. So that would be one gallon of Kilz at about $12./gallon and two gallons of paint at about $11-$20. Hope this helps and Happy Painting!

My favorite is Pittsburgh Paint. Covers great, doesn't drip and leaves a beautiful finish. Ceiling paint is about $15 and the wall paint about $20-25 depending on the finish.
This is the only paint I've ever used that made the job enjoyable.
How much? Measure the room and ask at the hardware store. They can accurate determine the amount you need.

You can get paint starting at about 8$ a gallon if you buy recycled paint and it can go up to as much as 43$ gallon if you are using designer paint such as Ralph Lauren.

One gallon of paint will cover 400 square feet.

all paint prices vary, depending on the grade. I use sherwin williams classic, about $25/gal
1 gallon should cover 440 sq ft. to calculate your square footage, length X width of each wall your are painting and add the totals together. Remember, it will usually take 2 coats to complete a room, the 2nd coat covers the 'miss's" from the first coat, so dont forget to double the sq footage before buying your paint.

When you find out please let me know. I have to paint two walls in my bathroom this weekend.

Try looking on line...Home Depot, etc.

I bought paint last year and I think it came to about $13.00. (half gallon).

Also try freecycle.org. Post a Wanted: Gallon Of Paint. Lots of people just give stuff away all the time. Just tell them what color you need. You never know. I actually got a can of Ralph Lauren paint on that site a year ago. Just make sure you click on the state/area you live in. You may have to pick it up. But some people will just drop it off at your doorstep.

Good luck!!
