I think you should really tell your girlfriend. If she finds out later, and thinks that somethings going on, she might not be able to trust you. You should tell her, and she what she thinks, and then you or her should discuss it with the mother.

if she's trying to start something with you behind her own daughter's back, it's dangerous. if you try telling her there's a strong possibility she'll denied because of "family ties" unless she & her mom ain't really as close as they are.
