Some follower might consider him one but most people will see him as what he was, a cruel dictator and a criminal.

A martyr is someone who is killed for his belief in some greater cause. The only cause Hussein EVER believed in was HIMSELF. His life as a cruel dictator illustrates perfectly that he had no concern for anything beyond his own needs and wants. One cannot be a martyr for the cause of selfishness. Sorry, even his followers knew he was a ruthless self obsessed killer. They just tolerated it for what THEY could get out of the arrangement. He will be missed by no one.

I'm not sure what you mean by "mythical sense" but I do believe he will be counted as a martyr by his followers & supporters.

somewhat the same way that catholics have a list of "saints" and "martyrs", saddam will join the list of muslim "martyrs".

They will try to call it a martyrdom but it's not. He's convicted of murdering 140,000 people proving he is only a criminal. PEACE!!!
