When I was in highschool (six years ago), I had the most lean and muscular stomach. ( I took karate from the age of 13 to 17 ) I only weighed 130 at 5'8.
Now, I'm 24 and (after two children) my tummy is not only much bigger, but I'm 30 lbs heavier! I would love to get my old self back but have tried every diet pill I can, done the atkins diet (all the weight came back).
I have tried cardio exercise but I just don't have the energy.
What can I do to lose 30 lbs in 3 months without having to dance around my living room? (No crazy diets please, I suck at dieting!)
Will situps make my tummy muscular again? If so, how many a night do I have to do?
thanks for your advice

No they will not. You NEED cardio exercise to burn off the fat. Doing crunches will strengthen and tone the ab muscles, but they will not show until you lose the fat. Time to find that energy.

I'm i think diet pills are such a waste. Since I'm in athelitcs right now and i'm in shape. I would say to walk very early in the morning. Then eat a good breakfast, like eggs or cereal. Leave out all the fast food. After you eat don't fall asleep. Just walk around the house. Then if you have a treadmill use it for 30 minutes each day. And yes situps are helpful, but not that much. Hope I gave you good advice.

I would recommend digging up some of your old karate practices (katas, etc). Those are a great workout!
As for situps, they will definitely make your stomach muscles firmer, but cardio is necessary to burn the fat. Otherwise you will have a hard stomach underneath fat.
I'd start slowly by just doing maybe 50 situps then work your way up to 100 or more a night. Then add other exercises.
Good luck!

Crubnches are better and less harmful than situps. Hpowever, it will take some diet modification. Eat only fresh fruit for the first 4 hours you are up every day. Then, eat lots of vegetables, little meat, no dairy, little carbohydrates. Avoid cake and cookies and pies for at least three to four weeks. Eat only two clices o0f nbread a week, no pasta no pizza. Don't dreink alcohol.

Make sure that you watch your fat intake. Atkins will work, but if you go off of it, the fat comes back plus some. Sit ups will tone the muscles and it will also help your back. Start with 20 a day either crunches or sit-ups and then add at least 5 every week.

You have to eat healthy, not necessarily diet to make this happen. Eat a variety of foods, and if you really want to make this happen you will need to do cardio and strength training exercises. Pilates are very good. Try the dvd, Pick your Spot Crunch Pilates, it is awesome. Getting in shape is not hard you just have to really want it. Crunches alone will not do it.

to get a muscular stomach you have to diet and burn fat through activity. you can do all the situps you want, and it will build your stomach muscles, but it wont burn the fat you are carrying on top of it. but its also counterproductive to compare to high school weight, your body has most likely gained muscle from your everyday activities so you will way a bit more but still be healthier.

from my research, cardio such as walking, helps shrink belly tissue the best in addition to a healthy diet. check out www.sparkpeople.com for a great site ( and free!) which gives all kinds of pointers and guidance in fitness and weight loss

There was a wheel with handles you rolled in front of you but I don't know if it was found to be bad for the back or if it is even still around.

sit ups will build the muslce, but there will still be fat on top of that muscle. you need cardio to get rid of the fat.
