babushka, but only in English.

in Russian, it is called "platok" (literally kerchief),
and "babushka" means grandmother or old lady.
The confusion is b/c old ladies oftern wear it.

It is not a religious attribute, just conservative and old-fashioned.
Russian Orthodox demands that women cover their head, so it is often worn inside the church, but that's because old ladies go to chuch a lot; young ones sometimes keep it in a purse and put it on only inside the church.
