Even if they planned it this way, it is actually good for Saddam, as it is the time for Muslims to seek repentance from God. One day of fasting during this holiday is equal to 100 days of fasting in reward. It is a very spiritual time and a time to seek forgiveness.

It's a holiday to remember God and pray on time (we pray 5 times a day), it is a time to uphold the ties of kinship, and to fast, and to give charity- but most importantly to repent and to pray for a safe journey to all Muslims who go on Hajj to Saudi.

Well, it certainly doesn't help anything in his case. It seems significant, otherwise, why not just do it at ANY other time. Just before or after the holiday, for instance. Yes, seems significant somehow.

well, they did it before, so I suppose it doesn't matter.

I'm going to miss that crazy dictator! there's so few left in the world now, Dubya's gone in two years, even Putin has to step down eventually (unless he can change the constitution).
