What is a "gag" gift?

Question

Why would I give it to someone? What is it used for? Have you ever recieved one? What would you do if you recieved one?

I think I also saw one on a sign at a Pricillas, maybe? What are those?

Think about the person's personality. Think of what would be a funny commentary about them (not cruel) and buy a gift that is on point with some subject you can make light of them kindly.

I think gag gifts can successfully be given and received. Not all of them are tasteless. I can't recall receiving one but I have given them before. For example, this year I gave my dad a Day Clock (clock that does not keep time, only day of the week) because he is retiring soon. It's now on my parents' kitchen wall. I have also considered getting a fork with an extra long handle for my mother in law because she likes to eat off of other people's plates at restaurants. :)
I wouldn't mind receiving one as long as the person knows me well, isn't being hurtful, and it reflects a quirk or personality trait.

A gag gift is something that's supposed to be funny, but it's usually offensive or just plain dumb (e.g. "Older Than Dirt" t-shirt for someone turning 50). Usually, you want to avoid them unless you KNOW the person will appreciate it, and you're getting them an actual "real" present to make up for it.

A "gag" gift is a joke gift. You would give it to someone if you wanted to make a joke.

Why you would give it to someone is to make them happy. What they would use it for is to pull pranks. I have recived one before and it was a whoope cushion. What I did with it was put it under a bunch of cushion/pillows. ;)
