My friend just told me today that she is only 71 pounds, at 5"4, she is 14, and female.
She told me that she throws up her food after she eats, which is called bulimic.
I told her that I need to tell someone, and she started hysterical crying, she said that she trusted me, and that she thought I wasa real friend, and that I wouldn't tell anyone. I told her I won't tell anyone, and i don't know what to do, what shou;d I do?!

As important a promise is, bulimia is a dangerous and possibly life-threatening disorder. I would try reasoning with her a few more times, and if nothing works, I would tell a dietician. 71 lbs at 5'4 is 12.2 on the BMI (Body Mass Index) - underweight is 19 and under. This could turn into a really serious condition. The correct range for height and age is 93 to 137 lbs. Definitely tell someone if she cannot be reasoned with.

14 huh? Well, I guess she wants to be sexy?? But skeleton like is not sexy. at 5'4 your friend should weigh no less the 115 lbs.. You should make a deal with her, show her how good a healthy body looks in comparison to her own, (be sure to use a picture of her not a mirror, mirrors lie.) Then give her a couple of weeks to start eating, if she bails on you rat her out. You'll only be saving her life. Better to be hated by the living then guilt ridden in mourning.

you should be able to see that someone is actually 71lbs at 5'4" because they'd be skin and bones. It's gross!
She needs help. Ask your nurse at work the effects of bulimia....you're friend's teeth will get sharp from the stomach acid that is being thrown up, her mouth and throat will be damaged from the acid too, and it's just horrible.
It's a disease and unhealthy. If you are a REAL friend you'd tell someone- a teacher, nurse, some adult who is responsible!

A real friend will get help for their friend and not let them die, tell some one before its too late, when your friend gets help and becomes stable again then hopefully she'll understand your motives of telling.

She might hate you for it initially, but you really should tell someone. bulimia is really dangerous to her health and its really counterproductive as far as what she is trying to accomplish. all that starving yourself means is that you are starving your body, then when you do it your body thinks its starving and it will store the food as bodyfat instead of using it for necessary bodily function. that and all that stomach acid continually making its way into her mouth from throwing up will erode the enamel on her teeth and make them look really gross.
