I am from the Canada.

Is it serious that Texas USA is so tight that they do NOT provide the following...
1) Medical care to unemploy/skint in any sense or in any case
2) Emergency medicine to the unemployed/skint in any sense or in any case.

If you was having a cardiac arrest, would they leave you in the car-park if they saw you and just say "Get used to it, pal and manage without treatment DIY style"?

I work in the ER in Texas, come on in we cant refuse you service. But that is the problem with why health care cost so much! Too many people use the ER for a clinic for " free " health care. So bring that kid that's had a cough for 5 days to the ER at 5:01 pm so we cant tell you to go to the clinic (as you should ) and suck the heath care system a little more! oh, yeah and if your here illegally we will treat you for free too, plus give you a ride to the border ( not really a free ride to the border, don't I wish!! )

I work at a medical clinic in Texas. I've been there for 10 years, and deal with patient registration and insurance (or lack of) every day. This is not a government clinic or county clinic. It is a privately owned clinic with 17 locations all over town and in surrounding areas.

We see unemployed people, with and without insurance, with Medicaid, with Medicare, and most other insurances around.
We never turn anyone away, whether or not they have insurance, whether or not they are able to pay at the time of service. We do offer 25% discount to people without insurance who pay at the time they are seen, as an incentive. But if they are unable to pay, we don't turn them away or insist or try to humiliate them in any way.
I don't know where you got your information, but it is wrong, wrong, wrong!!

No. I work in medical billing.

They'd rescue you, then try to bill you.

Depending on your personal circumstances, there are many options for people in such situations. For example, there are charities that will help pay for your medical expenses.

Additionally, many clinics and hospitals give discounts or make payment arrangements with people who say they can't pay. The key is communication. Most doctors and hospitals really do care about their patients, but they must make a living too. But if they don't know you need help, they can't help.

No, usually if you show up at the designated county hospitals, they are required to provide indigent care for their county residents. You may not like the wait there in non-urgent situations, but the services are available.

I assume if you show up at any hospital with a life or death situation, they would treat your immediate crisis until you can be transferred to an appropriate facility.

in this country many people cant get medical care because they dont have insurance or money to pay for it. hospitals will give emergency care to save a life but you have to promise to pay. they will later hound you for the payment until they get it or have to sue you and write it off. any other care wont be given in many places. Some states will help with medical for only certain people who fit their requirements.( pregnant women, kids, and some disabled persons.)
