In the beginning of their fight, it really looked like an HBO fight and i was wondering if they both actually got hurt in the film. I know that they both didn't really go all out and fight like it was a real fight but i was wondering if they really hit eachother.

I like Rocky. I really do. When I was a kid, watching some Rocky made me think I could kick a big Russian's a**.

But if Antonio Tarver "really" hit Stallone, Sly might just be in a home somewhere with an aide watering him because he thinks he's a carrot. Tarver's got real power. He made Roy Jones Jr look like a pansy. I'm sure some punches landed inadvertantly, but there's no way they told Stallone and Tarver to actually hit each other. Otherwise, it would be a really, really short movie.

Of course the fight was highly choreographed, but they claimed that the punches when filming were actually connecting to make it more realistic. For the casual moviegoer I'm sure it does, but it's pretty obvious for a boxing fan that these guys at no moment were ever trying to hurt each other. I'm sure Tarver could knock Stallone out easily. ;-D

Then again, according to this other article, Stallone did get knocked out at one point:

A bit better than Rocky IV when he was hurt and had to stop filming for the day because he got caught with a punch to the chest when he wasn't supposed to.

haven't seen the movie yet, but ever since rocky2, stallone has had a penchant for realism and has been connecting w/his adversaries(and routinely getting some kind of injury): creed, lang, and drago. it does make for a better choreographed fight, so i would not be surprised if they did connect in rocky balboa, but, for sure, tarver held his punches, bec he would and could really hurt sly.

No but I'm sure some of the punches did connect unintentionally. I gotta give it to Sly, even though he's wicked old now he sure is in great shape still.

NO BOXING MOVIE IS REAL. I HAVE YET TO SEE ONE THAT EVEN LOOKED REAL. MARTIAL ARTS MOVIES LOOK MORE REAL THAN BOXING MOVIES.
