I have a problem, I do NOT want to walk down the isle to the corny song here comes the bride. I like the hawiian version of somewhere over the rainbow by IZ, but my fiance says thats dumb. I think its cute b/c that song tells about a world that you canonly dream of, and that day, my dream would be coming true. Does anyone else think this is dumb, or have any suggestions of any other songs to take that walk down the isle with? Thanks

For the others who may be thinking of one, I also considered Only Time by Enya, but it turns out that my fiance's grandomther played that at his grandfather's funerla, so that one wouldn't be so good for me! Maybe someone else can use it! Thnx for the answers and advice though!

Congratulations on your wedding! I just married 3 weeks ago and I have to say I also like the rainbow song (by any artist) but the Hawaiian version is nice. It's a little slow and off-tempo so consider you will be walking to it and that might be tricky. Practice it at your rehearsal. I didn't want "here comes" either so I used an instrumental piano piece by George Winston off his Montana: A Love Story cd called "Joy, Hope & Peace" and it worked nicely. Our bridesmaids/groomsmen walked down the aisle in pairs to another piano piece from the same cd. I used a few other songs from this cd on a pre-recorded self-made cd for the background music to play as our guests were arriving and being seated at the chapel. We exited the chapel to "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" by James Taylor--it was too perfect! :-)
There are 1000's of lovely instrumental pieces available for purchase on Rhapsody (or other similar services) that you can listen to before you buy...that's how I found my song. I think the music is a HUGE part of your whole day--more than anyone anticipates. People don't remember your flowers or your decor but they always remember the entertainment and your music--that's what provides your guests with a great celebration and thanks them for coming to share your big day!!
Do what you like; it's your day and the song you choose is personal taste. You're the bride--you call the shots. No one else will (or should) care; including your fiance.

Well, it is your wedding as well as his. Maybe you can walk down to the "Here comes the Bride" and have your song that you dance to be the Hawaiian version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". Maybe you could do that. Good luck.
Oh, by the way, explain to your fiance that there are people out there that dress like Star Trek characters and Star Wars characters and they use the themes from those shows to come down the aisle to. Seriously, yours is a far cry from that! LOL

You could compromise and find a more traditional piece of music that isn't "Here Comes the Bride". Many brides choose music such as Ave Maria, Pachebel's Cannon or Trumpet Voluntaire (spelling?). I would suggest that you pick something of a "classical" nature, because it will appeal to people of many tastes and if you are video taping the wedding, it will be something you'll be pleased to show people many years in the future (think about how many people got married 20-30 years ago and cringe at the part of the ceremony when some cheesy song that was popular when they were young is played.)

Your wedding day is about you and your fiance and what makes "the two of you happy." If you want to walk down the aisle to "Achy Breaky Heart," then start strolling, lol. However, if your fiance doesn't like it, I would sit down with him and find something that tugs at both your heart strings and choose that song. What do you both like?
Are you both into any jazz? Try the link below for other choices in music and also top wedding questions, but I say go for something that has meaning to you or to the both of you. Good luck!!

I def dont think you should have to walk down the aisle to here comes the bride if you dont want to!
I love that version of "somewhere over the rainbow" song and wanted to walk down the aisle also to it but like you my fiancee did not "love" the idea like I did. He was happy with anything I chose but I wanted it to be a song we both wanted so we decided on 'it might be you" sung by Erik Santos which is our song!
I think you need to have something you are both happy with and "love" but stick to your guns about it being something other than "hear comes the bride".

We didn't use Here comes the bride for our walk down the aisle. You should use whatever you want. My H proposed to me at D-land by the Snow White Wishing Well, so I used the instrumentals to that music...then we used something different for the walk back up the aisle after the ceremony was over.

You need to have a heart to heart talk with your fiance and ask him if he really cares one way or the othe what song you walk to. Chances are good he really doesn't even if he did say it was dumb. If he really doesn't care, walk to whatever song you want. If he does really care, ask him to help you pick something that would be agreeable to the both of you.
Just remember, it isn't YOUR day... It is both of your day. He should have equal say if he wants it.

I like that song but it does remind me of ER when Dr Green died so I don't know if its fitting. I think you and your man need to talk about it, remember you don't want to get hung up on the little details its just a day, the rest is a marriage for life.
Any songs that brings back happy memories? like your first dance, kiss etc. Good luck

YOU choose the song I refused to use Here Comes The Bride! Boring, outdated, old and stuffy. I used a country song by Steve Holly Good Morning Beautiful ! My husband sang it to me one morning and it was very special to me and meant a lot.
