Bought my new baby cockateel from pet store,it turened out she wasnt even weened so we payed for specalist help, she spent 4 weeks going from being hand fead and sleeping on hot water bottle, to feeding herself and sleeping on her perch.
and after 4 long weeks she was well enough to come home :)
we own a adult cockatil as well and at first things werent so bad, except on the first night when the birds were being put in the dinning room where its more quiet at there bed time "Both birds" went into "panick mode" flapping around there cages just because the new bird was brought out first? since then we move both birds into the dinningroom at the same time,
my question is how can i bond with my new bird as she seems to becoming more paniky "rather than carm"? she will eat from my hand so shes not scared ov me,but my adult teel starts scwaking and she joins him in panick mode, how can i carm her???

both birds r in there own cages n it seems like our adult teel is panakin as if something is going to happen to our baby teel rather than case of him not excepting her? our adult trusts us 100% so why does he act like this? could it be because our baby teel makes some very strange sounds? she spent 4 weeks homed up with 1 macawl, african grey,2 parakies and a cockatile not sure which she mimics excepet its not the cockatile lol
she even makes screaching noise which sounds like "chimpanzie showing its dominance"???

Your first birds are jealous of the attention the new bird is getting. They have not excepted the new bird as part of the flock. Start out for now with moving the baby into another room before you take her out to handle her, this way she is not in the same room with birds that are screaming and she won't be distracted. But once she is back in her cage and you take her to the bird room talk to her in front of your out birds but do not handle her or open her cage. Every time you talk to her and your old birds are calm give them a treat and praise them. Also at night when you cover them cover the old birds first. They are most likely feeling misplaced, once they see that this new bird will not take you away from them they will slowly except the new bird into the flock.

first do you cover your cage at night?... this is a new envoroment for the bird bird at night some times have what we breeders call night frights... cover the cage normally this will take care of that, second they have in pet stores cuddle blankets you might want to buy one it is small has a hook on it and hang in a corner, just a small piece of flannel some times made to look like a upside down type nest, handle your bird very often take out of cage, this bird has been hand raised your other bird seems to be jelous of the attention so do the same with the other one....you might also want to make sure your new bird knows what time bed time is, if you turn lights out and they are in the middle of doing some thing it is hard for them to see to get to there nesting place for the night (which ussually is on the perch or side of cage) so make sure they are calmed down before you turn out the lights, start slowly with a dim light just before you turn off the big lights for the ngiht... works great for me, hope this all helps and good luck with the baby, i love all my new ones after hand feeding hate to see them go to new homes lol

Are you keeping both birds in the same cage?
If so, I wouldn't do that untill they become OK with each other.
Also, take the little one into a separate room with you so you can spend time alone with it..So the other bird dont' upset it.
This way the baby can learn to be calm with you.

Well, one suggestion I'd like to make is to not buy from a pet store. I recommend buying from a breeder. My friend bought a teil from a pet store and he couldn't do nothing with it. It didn;t come out of its cage, it just sat there making only 1 type of chirp. It didn't exercise, it just got fatter. However, a new teil I bought him from a breeder is very friendly and it's hand raised, so it can be handled.
The pet store teil seems to be getting more trustworthy of the breeder teil and my friend.
