I'm 32 and have been dating a guy for about 3 months - not very long I know. Christmas went well. We even exchanged presents and he gave me a necklace. During the past week I've had maybe a five minute phone conversation from him since.
I've left a couple of messages that have been unreturned which is not like him at all. I'm wondering if he's pulling a "fadeaway" as a way of avoiding the whole breakup scene.

Avoidance is acceptable after a few dates but I guess after 4 months, I expected a little more. I could be paranoid - maybe he's just really busy but then again, I'm not naiive either. Experience has taught me a thing or too. I'm just going to stop pursuing it - if he callls - fine...If not, that's fine too because I don't need this from a 37 yr old man.

Is there anyone who could help me understand the male psyche?? Why invest in a necklace if you're going to stop calling one week later?

Men - ugh!!!! - (just kidding :-) to all the decent guys out there)

He's definitely preoccupied. Could it be another girl? Maybe work related, but he should be able to atleast get away for a cup of coffee and some light coversation with his gf, helps take off some stress, when work gets too hectic. I hate to say it, but it sounds like another girl.... I hope I'm wrong! good luck and take care

Some chicks do it too, but I've found the "disappear" thing is more common with guys...the brush off...and no, it's not acceptable after a few dates...it should never be acceptable...it's not an appropriate way to treat anyone...it's cowardly and discourteous at the very least.

The answer is simple, he met someone else, but doesn't know if he wants to break it off with you yet; depends on whether or not the new woman likes him.

You may be right about him being really busy. I'd suggest you call him and tell him that you miss and would like to see him.

To tell you the truth, I don't understand what is going on. If you are giving him all the right signs then he should be calling you back.
