I am 16 years old, 4'11 and 120 pounds. I am looking to start jogging everyday ( again ) soon. If I keep this up and eat healthy, how long will it take me to lose about 10-15 pounds?

I usually jog a mile but about 3 times a week I try to go for 2.

Here is a site that will help yopu figue out how long it will take. It will calculate how many calories you burn based on your weight and height, how many you consume, and from there how long to lose the weight. Good luck with it.

You should definitely be taking in MORE than 600 calories a day. Especially if you're going to be running. And to lose wieght the right way takes a long time, so be patient. You won't see immediate results, but when they happen, they'll be long-term if you stick with it. A few suggestions that really worked for me: Cut out sodas from your diet...stick with water, 1percent or skim milk, and organic juices. Cut out or reduce your intake of red meat (this will help fight cellulite, which can be the most frustrating thing about losing weight). Eat LOTS of veggies and fruits (think raw spinah and apples) and lots of high protein foods. Also, take a multivitamin everyday so you're sure to get nourished. As far as working out goes, start small...a good 30 minute run is good but when that starts feeling easy, pump it up to a faster pace or longer run. You can also keep your metabolism burning throughout your day by taking deep, long breaths here and there. And if you're out shopping or walking to the fax machine at the office, do it with your butt cheeks clenched. If you find yourself standing in line, work your calves by elevating yourself to the balls of your feet (do six reps). I wish you the BEST of luck! Losing weight is NOT easy, but you can totally do it!

FIRST, you should see your family doctor to make sure you are healthy otherwise before you start jogging or whatever. Provided you are cleared for exercise, then I would do the following, don't worry about how long it takes:

Change your lifestyle and do this forever. Drink lots of water, walk, run, or swim an hour every day except 1 then do stretching and upper body toning. Eat fruits & vegetables.

No alcohol
no bread
no burgers
No candy
No chips
no corn
no fried foods
No pasta
No pizza
No potatoes
No sodas
No sugar

Good Luck

1-2 lbs a week. So it's doable to lose 10-15 lbs in two months. If you go faster than that, more likely you are losing fluid, won't be able to keep it off, or you might get health issues (such as periods messed-up because of dramatic change of weight). One more thing is that if you are just concerned about the weight, you might want to go light with weight-lifting or any other exercises that build muscle. Jogging is the way to go! :)

Jogging how far? For how long? What is your diet like?

There are a number of factors that go into figuring how fast you will lose weight...you should be able to lose 10 lbs in just over 3 wks though, assuming a max weight loss of 3 lbs per week...

A good friend of mine started using the treadmill several months ago. He does 4 miles each session. He has lost 20 pounds already. He has also cut portions at the table. Saw this gentleman two weeks ago. He looks great.
Eat a good breakfast. Most important to start the day if you plan on jogging.
I am a biker. Have kept my body very slim. For this year I have biked 2300 miles. My age is 82. Good luck with your program.

1 pound a week is a healthy way of doing it. However, you might want not to loose all that weight because you need energy to grow still (given your age).

You also didn't write whether you are male or female, so it's hard to guess whether your weight is ok or not.

Finally when you jog you need to take your heart beatings and target 70-75% of your maximum heart frequency, so that what you burn with jogging is fat.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Get started today!

I don't, I've been trying for over a year. If you stick to a regimen though I would say about 2 months. Good Luck I hope it works out for you!
