Closing the door to the bedroom, the dog may scratch and want in. I'm not so sure I want an audience.

Crate the dog or train it not to jump on the bed when you give a certain command.

You can also give it a kong filled with frozen peanut butter to keep it busy, and then close the door.

If you start with a puppy, crate train him/her. Dogs don't think of their crates as a prison, but more as a haven. If you choose not to crate the puppy/dog or confine it to another room, it is natural for the animal to be curious. After time the animal will learn to leave you alone. It's all in the training of the dog.

Well if you train it to obey commands and lay in his own bed, then he should. Training should be done with firmness and kindness, no beating as this is cruel and will not work. Rewards for doing what you want it to do works well. Buy a very lovely dog bed and he will want to go and lie in it, put a soft toy or two in there for him to cuddle up to.

Most people I know just close the door. If you train the dog to use a crate, you can put it there.

Keep the door closed you don't want his cold nose to hit you where the good lord split you. You can train him not to scratch, it might take some time though.

A puppy is the same as having a kid - you and your partner will just have to wait until the puppy takes a nap or goes to sleep at night in it's cage, except I don't keep my kids in a cage but you know what I mean. :)
