Dogs DO have belly buttons, as do cats, but they do not look the same as a human belly button. and is basically an elongated scar.

An umbilical cord connects the embryo to the placenta. The navel or belly button is where the umbilical cord was attached to the young placental mammal. So even though you may not notice it unless you look very carefully, dogs and cats do, indeed, have belly buttons.

The answer is Yes! A normal canine belly button is difficult to find, so if your dog has an “outie” this is a sign of a hernia, and monitor it carefully for sudden changes in size that may need checking by your vet.

If your dog seems to have one, it is actually an umbilical hernia. This is very common in smaller, snub-nosed breeds.

What happens is, when the mother dog chews the umbilical cord off, she chews it too close to the belly. So, the umbilical cord then does not heal completely. In most cases, there is a little bump on the belly that shows up when the puppy is about 6 weeks old. In extreme cases, there could be major health concerns for the dog, however, this is very rare. Many times, it ends up closing by itself by the time that the puppy reaches about 9 months old.

This all being said, the umbilical hernia is basically the same as a human's "outie" belly button.

yes, they are mammals. They are born live just like we are. They have an umbilical cord while they are in the womb and that leaves the mark after birth.

Dogs do not have belly buttons. Some dogs can have a hernia, but that's not the same thing and is generally surgically repaired. A hernia is essentially when part of an organ pushes through the muscular wall of the abdomen (or wherever the hernia is located) but is covered by the skin layers.
