Sleep deprivation is when things are stopping you sleeping; insomnia is when there is nothing that stops you from sleeping but you can't get to sleep. Sleep deprivation isn't a disorder and is not the same as insomnia. As an aside, you can accrue a sleep "debt" if you don't have enough sleep which must be made up.

One treatment for insomnia is an hour's exposure to a strong light such as a strong lamp at the same time each day. This can help to reset your internal mechanism and help overcome the problem. There has been some excellent study done on this with excellent results.

There is a familial form of insomnia reported in a family in Italy which is caused by a prion disease. This eventually leads to death.

However, most likely this is garden variety insomnia. Please talk to your primary care doctor about treatments for insomnia. However, you may also have something like Bipolar Disorder if your insomnia is accompanied by very high mood/euphoria, dangerous behavior, irritability, grandiosity, fast talking, rapid thoughts.

I think what you are referring to is the disease called insomnia. This disease has been said to effect many people during their lives. It can be a temporary or permanent condition. On the temporary side, stress is a main contributor to its prevalence. Long term insomnia effects about %10 of people. This is known as chronic insomnia.

It is impossible to not sleep ever. You probably sleep at short
intervals and wake in between. You may have sleep apnea.
See you DR.
