Jesus taught us to love our enemies, and to pray for those who persecute us.
Saddam is, by all accounts, and evil man who has committed horrible crimes. He should never be allowed to be a free man again. But killing him for what he has done sends the message that killing your enemies is acceptable in this modern age.
What's to stop our enemies from thinking the same way?
How many innocent people will die tonight because of this execution?
As Gandhi said, "An eye for an eye ends up making the whole world blind."

Yes this is the way God would want it. No his crimes against humanity cannot go unpunished.
God say's we have to obey the laws of the land in order to be able to obey his laws. I don't feel sorry for Saddam except for the fact that in my belief he believed in the wrong god! No God would want anyone to do what him and his followers have done.
When I say the wrong God I am speaking of The verse in the bible The Acts 17:23..... if you care to go read it.
By the way, if you are not Christian do you believe in any god?

Ya know what - at this very moment there are children dying of horrible disease, women being raped and murdered, communities being wiped out by AIDS, and at least a billion people will go to sleep hungry tonight ...
If God ain't working on those little problems I don't think he really cares if Saddam swings from the end of a rope ...

I agree with you, and I am Christian. Only God has the right to judge His creation. Saddam has commited terrible atrocities in his lifetime, but "an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind."
God will fix things in His own due time :)

Your answer is partially correct. The vengeance is God's as to his (Saddam's) eternal destiny. As for the right to execute him, read these verses. "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungoliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness.." Romans 1:18. Plus this,
"For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to exectue wrath upon him that doeth evil." Romans 14:4.
I believe this applies to governors, judges, members of the Armed Forces and the police.
Furthermore, do you consider Saddam to be human?

Vengeance is mine means that God will take care of the problems. But since we have a-lot of people with angry and hatred in their hearts toward this man they just forget about God and will he said. You must also remember the bible says obey the law of the land!!!!

The short answer to your question "Is this what God would want us to do?" is a big Y E S. This is exactly what God wants us to do. Why? Because the sin of murder (not killing, but murder to mean premeditated killing - cannot be judged, considered for forgiveness, or not - none of it can happen in the flesh. God states that a murderer is to be sentenced to death, to go directly before the Father. The victim or victims will be present with God for the decision. Its true He says Vengenance is mine, but you have to hand the guilty soul over to Him in order for Him to decide on the vengeance. I realize that there are lots of Christians who protest outside of jails when there is to be a death sentence carried out, and I know they are well-meaning, but this is the Word of God, and when someone says we should not have a death sentence, they show their ignorance of Gods Word.
Look, some people think that all God is, is love love love - God would never hate anybody, just forgive - God is love, etc etc.
Well, he IS a loving Father and because he loves his children, He doesn't want you to keep murderers around who can get out and kill again. God feels the same way about us as you do about your own children - you tell them what is best in order to keep them safe - Would you want to keep someone around your kids who could harm them?
The Bible shows us a Father of love, of course, but it also shows us a God who hates as well. He hates people who hurt his children; he hates people who teach false doctrine; he hates people who play church. He hates alot of things;
Why in the world anyone would want to hold on to a murderer is beyond me, but anyway, it is totally scriptual to put him to death, in fact it is a Biblical fact that its exactly what God wants us to do.

No, this is not the way God intended for us to behave. But we are human and we seem to make mistake after mistake.
One has to wonder if our president will sit and rejoice at the death of Saddam.. that was his intention after all.. pay back for Saddam's threat to his daddy. Will he sleep nights wondering when the children of Saddam Hussein may come after him for the same reason.
He should have let God handle it!

This is a fair question, but not in the context asked, you say the christian god in reference to Saddam. It will be the government of a overwhelmingly islamic state that has saddams blood on its hands not a christian state.
Ask this question in reference to the death penalty in the US. That is a good question

In the Bible in Gen 9:6 God said - Genesis 9:6 "Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man." That was given by God to all mankind as a everlasting commandment and that is God's desire. I know it is horrible, but the alternative to it is what we have in our society today with murder and crime all across the nation. It is what is best for everyone. He is a terrible person.
