It all depends on the composition of your muscle fibers, which determines your body type.
If you are an ectomorph (small-boned, long limbs, slender), you can NOT go without carbs. In order to limit calories you need to avoid saturated fats, and eat low fat food (mainly food with unsaturated fats, omega3s and omega6s).
Mesomorphs and endomorphs have a harder time utilizing carbs, and need to limit them more than ectomorphs.
Eat and train according to your body type!

They are both bad if you have too much but they are both good if you don't have a lot of them. Certain types of fat are bad for you such as trans fat or saturated fat, but there are many healthy fats too. Your body needs carbs, but not too many.

They're both necessary to live, they're bad if you have too much of either of them. Too much fat will clog your arteries and make it difficult for your heart to function etc.
There are different types of carbs...some are better for you than others.

Both can be good and both can be bad.
Fat: Trans Fats, partially hydrogenated fats are bad for you but Omega 3 fats (fish oil, olive oil, flax oil, raw nuts) are better for you
Carbs: cookies, cakes, fast foods, white bread, white pastas and rice are not truly healthy choices (bad) while fruits and veggies, beans, are much healthier choices.

Trans fatty acids , saturated and hydrogenated fats, as well as simple carbohydrates are unhealthy, however, omega3 fatty acids and complex carbohydrates are very good for your health in right amounts,(you cannot consume a lot of one kind of foods even if it were good for you, you need to eat a balanced, varied and adequate diet). both should be consumed in moderation but neither are "bad". You need them both to survive healthfully. it is universaly accepted that calories are the main culprit in weight gain and you should keep track of and limit your calories.

Both are bad if you eat too many, because they'll make you gain weight.
