It seems to me that so many people are looking for a simple answer to homework. WHY??? Do the research and you'll be that much better off in the end. Am I alone on this? You get what you put in! Yeah it might be easy to get the answer from people, and for some things I think that asking questions is great, but if you're trying to simply do homework try the text book, or (heaven forbid) try to figure it out yourself. Am I way off course here??

Nah, I totally agree with you. I'd never learn everything if I just asked here every time I had a question. Personally, I go to my teacher when I don't understand something, but maybe that's just me.

My favorite is when someone takes the time to post a question here that he or she could have found just as easily and in half the time on Wikipedia or Google or some other search engine

Hi. Your not off course.

I enjoy answering questions because it is a way for me to learn (or re-learn) the answers. I find it builds my skills both in thought and technique.

I like the challenge of using words as a means toward building concepts with material that is not always easy to understand.

[I will also add that I don't have much of a "social life" right now, due to a romantic situation taking a sour turn, and this forum helps combat some boredom that comes along with my situation.]

I can spot a "homework" question. I usually try to avoid them.

But I also will respond to them now and then.

Especially right after I ask a "stupid" question. And I have tons of them!

I try not to go into too much depth for "homework" questions, but I also feel that a better answer from me might inspire the questioner to learn more. After all, science is extremely interesting.

My philosophy: Spread the GOOD Karma!

How do you know that they haven't tried to figure the problem out themselves? You know the saying, 'two heads are better than one'? Maybe in this case, that's true. For instance, on my physics homework, I read that chapter over and over again, and I still didn't get what I was doing. There's nothing wrong with asking for help. So what if someone is just asking with no intentions of answering other users' questions, that's why you signed up right?...to help others, and get help?...Not everybody is as smart as you think they are, I hope you're not one of those people that think they know everything, because you don't. So next time someone asks a question, try to help them out if you know the answer, don't be rude and post one of these silly complaints...one of these days, its going to be you asking the question....don't be surprised if nobody helps you.

1. At last count 947,679. Probably 948,000 by the time you read this.

2. Because they are too lazy to think for themselves.

3. Are you alone in recognizing it, disapproving it or refusing to help? Well no matter, you are not alone.

4. You are right ON course.

5. It does make me laugh when I see questions like "10 points to the first person who writes my 10 page term paper" to watch all the answers NOT roll in.

It is very obvious when people are using it to do homework. Those kids think they are winning by cheating are learning nothing and losing out. I've seen entire assignments put here question by question. I usually skip the lazy people but if somebody shows that they are trying I'll help out.
