If you are meeting them at their house for the first time bring something to eat or drink: wine, beer, hot coco, apple cider, pie, cookies, etc. Anything you can bring to add to any meal being served is usually appreciated.

If you are meeting them at your place, then you'd want to give them something to take home. For the kids, perhaps a game to play while at your place (if they get bored) and that they can bring home, too. This could be anything from a board game or frisbees to play with outside. For his parents, a personalized ornament (made by you or not), a cookie jar filled with cookies you made, - just about anything that is personalized or made by you.

They are going to want to get to know you. They are not going to care about money or gifts. Rather than investing MONEY, the gesture will go farther if you invest TIME and THOUGHT. Baking them something is a great idea. If you are going over for dinner, try bringing a bread basket filled with a variety of baked goods. If you don't bake, the grocery store has plenty of items that are premade, just waiting for you to pop them out of their tube and put in the oven. One tip: Be yourself. You sound thoughtful and kind, one simple gesture will go farther than an OVERKILL.

pretty standard to just bring the host a gift---that would be his mother--no other gifts are needed and will most likly make them feel uncomfortable that they didnt buy you something?
A nice plant---arrangement of flowers--box of candy---even better if you know something special she likes alot-does she garden /bake/craft/work/ find out what her interest are.
Always if possible bake/cook a dish to bring with you as well if you are going to his families for dinner,Good Luck---relax--be yourself!! He loves you--so will they.....

I wouldn't bring gifts to someone I am meeting for the first time. It might look like you are trying to "buy" their acceptance of you. Of course the decision is yours. Either way always be yourself with them.

Bake something. (Find out allergies from your boyfriend.)

Cookies are good for all ages. And, even if they don't like them, the thought you went through all that trouble for them is appreciated. (So, bake a variety, and hopefully, no complaints.)
