I have found that there are legitimate ones and fakers out there. I think the best thing is to find someone who has been recommended by someone you know and trust. You should also know that psychics can only read energy and possibilities - we have free will and make choices all the time that affect the future - so what someone has said to you might not come true because of the choices you make and the path you take. And they may also be picking up on what you are desiring - that doesn't necessarily mean it will come true. During my last reading, the psychic was going through a bunch of stuff and I realized that I hadn't made a list of questions (which I normally like to do). So during the reading I wrote down 7 questions. Then she asked if I had any questions and I told her the first one - she then proceeded to answer the next six, in order as written on my piece of paper, without me telling her what the questions were. There are real ones out there.

This is a touchy topic as so many preconceived and false ideas cloud the psychic world. Too many con artist and fortune tellers have really made it difficult for anyone using the term psychic, to be taken seriously. A true psychic will never claim to "know the future". Too many free will issues... With that, yes I have had an accurate reading. I would suggest if your doing a paper on the topic, that you start with really looking at it, and try separating the b.s. from the truth. Do your paper from that angle and you will find it far more interesting.

Never accurate unless they are doing a hot reading. Look up cold reading.

Hot reading is when the "psychic" is already given the information before the reading.

The James Randi foundation offer psychics 1 million dollars if they can do their readings accurately, in controlled conditions. So far no takers.

When have you ever read about a psychic hitting the lottery?

That is really relative. Some people could have been a really bad reading but really want to belive, while others may have been given a good one, but refuse to.

You should find out for yourself and get a reading done
Dont' call the 1800#s per minute.

Try going to one that has an office. If anyone has to be good at something, it has to be someone that has to pay office rent.

A thought comes to mind:
Get someone who is your subject. Tell them that you are going to have 2 psychics give them readings. one of the "psychics" is a person pretending to be one, and then have them go to a real psychic. Have them compare the 2.

What I DO NOT belive in is any psychic that says they can win over your lover or make you rich.

Quickly - cold reading is when you make general guesses about someone without knowing anything about them. Pretty much anyone can think of something to associate with, say, water, cancer, a name that starts with 'J', the month of December. You just throw those things out there and let people make the connections themselves - you'd be surprised at how they don't remember later that THEY made all the connections, not the psychic.

Hot reading is when you know something about the subject ahead of time - name, birthdate/place, job, family, etc. You can do a google search or talk to someone who knows them. Then you go in with advanced knowledge so you can be more specific in your 'reading' - but it's all cheating, the psychich knew everything ahead of time.

'Psychics' like John Edwards use both methods. He sits there and throws out things like 'I'm getting and 'm' and a car ....' and lets people do the rest. He also makes the audience stand around for hours before the show starts and has ringers chatting to them about why they are there, and he uses that information later in the show without their knowledge.

not really. I have had a few reading in my time. And I usually tape the reading or write them down. And nothing that the psychic said has come true. I think that this is a waste of money.

No, but some horoscopes are crazy true, I don't know its the power of association or just the ambiguity, or maybe the desire to understand. But your typical psychics are hard core scammers!

Yes. I did. And it was a mind blower! She knew that I liked to read two different books and one time and she knew that I was thinking of moving and that the guy I was seeing was controlling and that I was sick and she predicted that I would write a book or keep a journal about things and I'll be darned if she wasn't right! That particular woman knew what she was talking about!
