Is it possible to cook ribs in a crockpot? I'd love to have them sometime ready to eat as soon as I get home from work but I worry that the sauce would dry out. Any ideas on how to keep the ribs moist? Should I put sauce on them right away? or wait til I get home. Also what are good side dishes to serve with ribs??

It is possible to make them in a crockpot:

Slow Cooker Spare Ribs

INGREDIENTS
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 pounds pork spareribs
1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)
1/4 cup cold water (optional)

DIRECTIONS
1. Place ribs in a large stock pot, and cover with water. Bring to a boil, and cook for 15 minutes.

2. In a mixing bowl, mix together soup, onion, garlic, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Remove ribs from water, and transfer to a slow cooker.

3. Pour sauce over ribs. Cover, and cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours, or until ribs are tender.

4. If sauce is too thin when cooking time is done, drain sauce from ribs, and pour into a sauce pan. Combine 1 teaspoon cornstarch with a small amount of cold water, stir into sauce, and bring sauce to boil. Cook until sauce has reached desired thickness.

2. Season ribs with salt and pepper. Place in a shallow baking pan. Brown in oven 15 minutes. Turn over, and brown another 15 minutes; drain fat.

3. In a medium bowl, mix together the ketchup, chili sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and salt and pepper. Place ribs in slow cooker. Pour sauce over ribs, and turn to coat.

4. Cover, and cook on Low 6 to 8 hours, or until ribs are tender.

2. Fries
3. Mixed Veggies
4.Garlic Mashed Potatoes

You can absolutley cook ribs in the crock pot. I do it all the time. Just put your ribs in the crockpot with your favorite seasonings and BBQ sauce and about 1 1/2 cup of water. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours and they will be so tender that they will fall right off the bone.

Some of my favorite sides for ribs are your standards - marcaroni, pasta or potato salad are always great as well as baked beans. Another great side is corn on the cob.

Country Style ribs are wonderful made in the crockpot! They make them in either Pork or Beef and they're usually boneless(if you find a couple the ribs are so tender that the bone just comes right out)-they are so good and easy to make!
You just put the Ribs into your crockpot and pour your favorite BBQ sauce over the ribs-I put just enough to generously cover the ribs. They cook all day (or sometimes I'll put them on the night before if I want to serve them at lunch) on low.
I serve them with potato salad, any kind of corn, or mashed potatoes! My family loves this simple but yummy meal!

Yes it is possible and even if they are still frozen. Place you ribs either already cut or whole in the crock pot when you get up in the morning- put in you desired sauce (it may not fully cover the ribs but if frozen then it will add liquid) anyway- place crock pot on high until one hour before being served- I let mine cook all day on high turn it on low at 4pm serving at 5/6 pm - the meat is falling off the bone and the bbq sauce is flavored throughout the entire rib.

I do it all the time, and they come out fall off the bone tender. Just throw them in w/BBQ sauce, I usually add onions, and a couple of cups of water, then low about 6-8 hours. In a second crockpot, put in some baked beans, add water, onions, brown sugar, and put that on low for the same amout of time.

Usually they won't dry out because the lids keep the juices in they might turn out a little greasy though. I would cook them in the oven at night for about an hour and 15 min. Then in the morning put them in the crock pot with the sauce on low. Baked beans are good with ribs mashed taters, or tater salad...

I think this is a good way to cook those country style ribs....in the crockpot, slow cooked and with sauce. Otherwise those are not good at all. I wouldn't waste good quality ribs by preparing them this way.

First of all, get a good crock pot recipe for BBQ spare ribs. You can get it right off of the internet. I like to have picnicky stuff with spare ribs...potato salad, corn on the cob, baked beans.

I dont know if you had your heart set on BBQ ribs but I love to put sauerkraut in with my ribs. I usually serve it as is-maybe some homemade biscuits on the side. But it will stink up your house.
