It's a Stitch for sure, don't pull on anything and read the the dr's instructions for home care. If anything starts to really hurt - let them know. Eat soft foods til it feels right to move forward, else you'll swell up and that sucks.

By "string," do you mean something thin and fibrous? Could be part of a nerve, if that's the case. Or, like the person above me said, it could be a piece of a stitch. Other than those two things, I have no clue.

If you're concerned about it, call your dentist or the oral surgeon who did the operation and ask them. They'll be able to set your mind at ease.

you must be a good healer if there was no bloodas it probably was a stitch.
