Put in a 347 stroker crank and a supercharger on top. with the right cam and injectors you can get over 500 hp :)

California has restrictions on what size motors you can put in cars. They also have a Horse Power limitation. Every state is different. Contact the Dept. of Motor vechiles or the Highway Patrol. I live in Florida, and I'm originally from California. Florida has a 550 HP limit for street legal cars, but it depends on the vechile. It depends on the size of the car. Show cars and Drag cars are a different story. I know there is Cars on the road that exceed the limits. Also there is the problem of handling. When you start putting bigger motors in small cars you have to beef up the suspension, brakes, and then there's the human factor.
I would just put a 347 Stroker in it, or get a stroker 351W. You can get 400 to 500 HP. You'll be surprized at the difference. It will fit a lot easier with fewer Mods. There alot of Mods to do if you put a Big Block, and the performance is not really that impressive, and the cost is outrageous. California is really strict on the smog control.

We have a guy at the Ford plant where I work, that has a 460 in his '94 Stang. He is pushing 632 hp at the rear wheels. He doesn't drive it on the street too often. Price of gas and 3-4 mpg are good reasons not to. I doubt if it wuld pass the emissions either, but for KY he can get away with it. Good luck.

i have 460's filled into them regardless of the indisputable fact that it took countless sheet metallic artwork and some body transformations to get it in, And it became basically solid for drag racing because of automobile being so unbalanced in weight it did not take care of solid on the line. and became homicide to attend to on moist streets because of all the burden being up the front. right here's somewhat standard truth about Mustangs. at the same time as they first got here out with the hot era Mustang 5.0's =you would possibly want to them with a speedy charger. Texas DPS offered a bunch of the speedy charged fashions for his or her patrol autos and radar autos. That lasted basically six months until eventually The Texas DPS all started jerking the speedy charged engines out and replacing them with standard 5.0 engines because the officials driving them were having too many wrecks, and burning up too many tires. yet previously you bypass spending a ton of money basically undergo in concepts this. no be counted how great a motor you stuff in it you at the instantaneous are not likely to out run a police radio nor police copter.

In order to comply with Cali's epa laws, you don't have alot of choices. You cannot "legally" install an older model motor in it (I.E. 351w, 351c, 460, etc, etc). Best bet is to contact someone like JBA (in San Diego) or Coast High Performance (in Los Angeles). both of those places have been in the 5.0 scene for years and both have packages that can (depending on your wallet) get you 300,400,500hp or more, all while passing the sniffer test with ease. Good luck.
