This Q. & A. was posted at HandymanUsa.com, this may or may not apply to your mirror, good luck!
I need to remove a mirror glued to a drywall wall.... probably with that black mastic. Any idea how to remove the mirror from the wall without breaking it? The effect on the wall itself is no concern. Thanks.
I had a 3' x 4' bathroom mirror which I removed awhile back. It was easy. The mirror was affixed with that black mastic stuff. This may take an hour or two, but I assure you that it is not labor intensive. First of all, buy some cedar siding or shim shaped wedges of wood. You won't need a lot. 6 to 8 pieces will work fine. Using duct tape, loosely tape center top of mirror to wall so that if mirror were to suddenly release itself from the wall, the tape will keep the mirror from falling forward. Ensure enough slack is maintained with the tape. Position the wedges at the top of the mirror and gently force behind mirror. Tap lightly with rubber mallet until firm resistance is felt. Raising the temperature in the room or using a hair dryer on the mirror will soften the black mastic. You may leave the mirror and return after 10 minutes or so. As the black mastic is stretching its hold on the mirror, gently tap the wedges further to increase the pressure. Continue this sequence until 2 or more shims are needed to the mirror.

First of all, I would use some packaging tape or duct tape from corner to corner making an X on each pane of glass, then perhaps a few more pieces of tape on the glass to hold the pieces together when you try to ply them from the wall. (just a safety measure) Chances are the glass is going to break, and the tape will help to keep large shards from crashing down. the shims method of getting the glass down sounded good, but I would check with Home Depot first...it's worth a trip for safety.
