In the self heating drinks (cocoa, coffee, etc) there is quicklime that is used to "self" heat the product. If this quicklime should happen to leak into the drink would it be harmful? My dog loves to chew on things. What happens if she gets a hold of one of these drinks and eats the quicklime? Will it harm her? Is it harmful if the can just leaks out the quicklime and gets on the skin? Sorry for so many questions at once but if anyone knows these answers I would love to hear them. Thank you.

You can find these at walmart.

Yes it sounds dangerous. It can't be good for you if it gets inside the drink and you ingest it. It is most likely just as bad for you dog. Don't keep them in your house with teething kids or animals. I don't even suggest you do an experiment with it. I think I would recommend that you go to the listed manufacturer and ask for a MSDS sheet for their product to get more info

Quicklime is a hazardous chemical. It can cause skin burns, reacts violently with water (so violently that the water boils) that's what heats the drink in the can and could cause blindness if it gets in your eyes. I'd definitely keep your dog away from it!
