Park farther from the door wherever you go. Take the stairs whenever available. Carry in fewer grocery/shopping bags at a time so you make more trips. Don't ask someone else to hand you something if you can walk over and get it yourself. Just a bunch of little things to increase your daily activity.
If you're looking for time together, go for a walk. It's a good time to talk too, which can't hurt in any relationship.

.. A great exercise is walking. It is good for many muscles and it is not strenuous on your body. You should work yourself slowly to about one hour per day. If you have a thread mill you will be much better off because you can incline it to burn two to three times the calories. Another great exercise is a bike; use it just as you would do your walking, build it up to about one hour, or more if you have the time. If you want to kill a lot of calories quickly find a mall with lots of stairs and again, build up gradually until you feel comfortable. Going up stairs burns calories very efficiently. Don't forget to eat well while you are doing all this. Stay away from white breads, sugars, and animal fats. Try to eat lots of salads, lean meats and vegetables and lots of purified water....KECK God Bless....

For ages I tried situps, push ups and so on, but they never did anything. Great for muscle tone but the fat never shifted. Since I started walking to uni and back (45 minutes from my flat) a ouple of times a week, however, the pounds have just been dropping off, and I really haven't been trying at all, if anything I've been eating far worse than ever

Hi there!
Like most of us, you and your father are destined to gain weight as life goes on. The damage to your bodies and social lives are horrific.
The way to stop this is not via certain exercises; it is by creating a calorie deficit for yourselves causing your energy needs to pull from your body fat stores.
Let me know if you have any questions; I am here to help.

The best exercises are things you like to do! If you find something you like to do you will continue doing it and be successful.
Sit down and ask yourself what makes you happy. Perhaps training to walk a 10K race, or running a half marathon. Maybe it's as simple as being able to walk 4miles and not get tired/sore/fed up.
Find something you like to do and have a final goal in mind.

Bike riding is an excellent way to burn those extra calories and you and your father could have a lot of good quality time while doing it! If you know of a good bike trail (streets are scary) I really recommend it.

Jump roping, walking, biking - these are all very good, and don't require much coordination or time, especially walking. Good luck!
