well i actually tried this one out, everytime a particular guy came in to the classroom, I'd catch his eye and not like stalkerishly stare at him, but just managed to keep his eye contact for a while, with a small smile, and i noticed the more i did it, everytime he came in the class he'd look at me first. Too bad i got bored of him lol.
You could jokingly tease him and just keep starting convos up with him. Or when your talkin to him twiddle with your hair, but i say go with the eye contact thing, seemed to work for me.
