Mental illness mistakenly identified as demonic possession - thats what causes it. Ignorance and mistaken identity.

I'm not sure about demonic possession. But I'm told that meditation is a great way to perform Astral projection.

Possession is not as prevalent as oppression, but involvment in occult practices such as tarot cards, oiji boards, seances, etc. can open the door. These practices of divination, seeking direction from satanic sources, are abominations to God, and often result in deception, demonic oppression, and ultimately, possession.

There are no demons, but people can be very suggestible and enter into altered states of consciousness that appear to be something inhuman.

Demonic possession is caused by SIN.
The Holy Scriptures warn us against practicing the black arts, sorcery, witchcraft, mediumship, and basically to refrain from engaging in the occult. Once you "engage", then it becomes sin, thus it is sin that opens the door for "entry" of demon spirits to impregnate your soul, which becomes "possession". The Biblical warnings not to "sin" in these areas are to "protect" you from the ultimate outcome of demonic possession.

Seeking those things, playing around with them, just for fun, is VERY unwise to do. You open yourself up to demons, based on your actions. If you seek them, you will find them. Just be warned, they are VERY real, and can disguise themselves a number of ways. Bottom line, they are evil, and not "for" you, no matter what they try to convey.
