If you are going to enlist start jogging now it will make it easier. It is really no more difficult than football camp. Also you can take you own running shoes to basic with you. Do this, the shoes they issue suck

Basic training is not hard to those that have completed basic training. After completion of basic training the war storys begin.
If you listen family members and friends that have gone through basic training they will all tell you that it is hard.
I want you to remember a few years back when you left the comfort of middle school to go to high school. Remember how uncomfortable and afraid you were because everyone told you that it would be different.
Well you got through that without too much of a problem and you found out that it was a lot of talk.
You will not find basic training to be like that. You will get over and through it, because millions and millions of American men and women have gone through this same training without problems. Basic training is mostly mental and a lot of physical training.
There are several people that will work with you, who's job it is to turn you from a civilian to a military person and acquaint you with military habits and the way things are done.
They will be yelling at you, screaming at you, having you do things that you never thought you would be doing, which you will find interesting.
You will meet people from all over the United States that will become like family to you since you will be in the same situation, going through the same things trying to make a passing grade and move onto the next level of your training.
You will learn to depend and rely on these individuals, laugh with these individuals, cry with these individuals, but never-the-less help each other through this thing called basic training that you are going through.
Just remember you will get over and through it. You and your buddies you make while going through this training will bond and become fast friends. Select the right ones, Some will be much older a few will be younger, some will be extremely rich while others will extremely poor. Some will have extremely high morales and then some will demonstrate a few,but maybe not where you are. The common link you guys all have is that you are all in the same boat trying to reach the next level.
Basic training is only hard because you have not gone through it as of yet. Once you complete basic you will have a lot of fond memories that you will tell others about your basic training cycle and the ones you tell about your adventures will say "Boy that must have been hard."
I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

Oh my god i loved basic training!!.(are you in the army?) It was a nightmare when i got there in Ft Jackson (relaxing Jackson, which was 2 yrs ago) the drill sgts were yelling going crazy. we were always doing fun adventurous training activites. Its only hard for the first 2 days, but what people alway told me was "its only what you make of it" . there were sad times, but we didnt have time to think about it because theres alot of stuff you will be covering for the next 8 wks, so it goes by really fast.. Before you know it you will be in the Red White and Blue phase..(Graduation) then you go off to AIT and you've gotten passed the hard parts.. Its not that bad. You meet really good people. LIke you can make thenm your best friends for life, because they are in the same boat as you... Well hope this helps Good Luck take care!

Not that hard. You get into shape pretty quickly, and it's only about 9 or 10 weeks, so it's over before you know it as long as you don't do anything really stupid. The mind games they play aren't all that bad. The worst part for me personally was getting along with many of my fellow trainee's, since I'm not exactly a people person. I didn't make any enemies or get in any fights oranything, but if you can make a few friends early on it makes the time go a lot quicker.

Basic training is all about what you want to get out of it. If you are willing to put your body to a test, as well as your mind and your will, basic training is no problem. If you expect to go in in a war time situation, as we are in now, you will be pushed and trained specifically for the Iraq situation. How hard is it??? Sorry, can't answer that question, but how bad do you want this?

That depends on the branch. Air Force basic training was pretty easy and I learned a lot. I even had fun in between my flight always getting yelled at. No matter what branch you join, always think of it as a game, if you play along and do what you're told, you'll finish before you know it. Then you get your normal life back.

Its mentally and physically challenging when you are going through it. But after you graduate and a few years have passed, you look back and say to yourself, "That was easy!" I laugh about it all the time. I wish I had not been so serious about it when I was in Basic. I was at Ft. Jackson March 1991. Met some great people.

Marine Corps boot camp will start with sleep deprivation and a good five mile run to weed out the non-hackers. It will be long, hard and when you've finished. You will be awarded your Eagle,Globe and Anchor and you will know that you have truly accomplished something. You will run and do P.T. ever day. You will have class room time and you may even be allowed to eat from time to time. If you have fat on your body when you arrive, I promise you, it will NOT be there when you leave. Short of moving on to B.U.D.s training (SEAL) you will never be in as good a shape as when you graduate, in your life.

Depends on which service you are joining. I joined the Navy 6 years ago and it was harder then it is now. Back then I had to be up by 4 AM, now it's 6 AM. You do alot of physical things, get yelled at alot, go to alot of classes to learn about becoming a sailor. It does get easier with time, but I think it's just because you get use to the abuse.

Its not as bad as you might think. Yes, its physical, but remember thousands of people have done it before you. I went through at 31 and had no problems with the physical aspect. The mental aspect is a different game, the drill sergeants will do all they can to make you feel uncomfortable and scared. Just remember that their job is to make you tough. Do what they say, keep your ears open and you will be alright.
