To sum it up- Tnt is Definitely a Great Place to visit!! No Doubt! If you've been to the Bahamas,Hawaii, Cayman Isles,Jamaica,Barbados,Virgin Islands, etc and looking for something new, exciting and fun and out of the ordinary..Trinidad & Tobago is the place for u!

T&T is great - just dont be foolish. As long as you act the same as if you were back home in the city ...you know what i mean?
Like everyone else has stated crime is an issue here, just like any other place in the world, but as long as you don't go "wandering" around the city at night, leave your purse/bag/valuables out in the open unsupervised, leave your car unlocked, etc... (the obvious) you should be fine.
The crime is not too bad keep your money in your pocket and your wallet in another. Dont wear a "fanny pack" since that screams complete tourist. :)If you do want to explore the city don't ask a random person on the street, but ask an employee of a store,hotel,taxi driver,tourism officer,etc.
Do this and you'll be safe!
There's a inter-isand ferry that leaves daily to connect both islands as well as airtaxis that connect both...via the newly formed Caribbean Airlines (now defunct BWIA) and Caribbean Star...
Trinidad is more designed for business, the "greatest" carnival on earth, calypso, soca, shopping, a lil ecotourism, some beaches, cricket,culture n cuisine (try the crab n callaloo)
Tobago is know for its beautiful beaches by americans and europeans, friendly people, great culture n cuisine, jazz festival, diving, fishing, ecotourism, a lil shopping, crab n goat race, hiking, waterfalls, etc.
Whatever u do- T&T is the Place 2 Have FUN!!

I was born there and went back in the year 2000. Based on my last experience, and my growing up in the states, I would say vacationing there is in the mediocre. Not to underestimate Trinidad and its parties, carnivals, drinking etc, but thats the only fun thing going for it at this point in time. I reccommend Tobago if you want to see beautiful waters, etc. If your looking for a quiet, fullfilling vacation, I dont recommend Trinidad. But if you know people there, and you can hang till 6 in the morning partying and beyond its wonderful.

Well it depends on what you like... i'd say trinidad is more of a location for the allocentric or traveller... its a great place to observe different culture, but it is by no means your typical caribbean destination... it is a lot more like a foriegn country outside the caribbean. The ppl are nice and we are a wonderful melting pot and quite unique. If you are looking for a nice 'Caribbean' destination - Tobago is great (just came back yesterday very reluctantly). It is not over overrun with tourists and commercial things like other islands. But its a great place to relax...if u r goin with a few ppl i would suggest the villas at stonehaven or sanctuary villas - a bit pricey but well worth it...really beautiful. A romantic place. If you do chose to come, we welcome u and hope u have a great time! (jan/feb there are a lot of great parties/fetes)

I would quicker tell you to go to Tobago. Trinidad has Carnival and whatnot but Tobago have Festivals and some really nice hotels and such. It is best to check the sites and see when they are having events.
