I'm getting the pain of severe nervousness in my stomach. The same sort of pain, like if someone walks up behind you and shouts boo and you get a really big fright.
It happens for a few hours then goes away.. but it even happens if i'm just watching TV or lying in bed..
Does anyone know what this is??? Please help this is becoming quite painful.

This really requires a doctor's attention. If you cannot afford a doctor, check out the free clinics in your area. As an afterthought, remember hospital emergency rooms cannot turn you away for inability to pay.

In the meantime, if you are told this may be stress related, I can recommend music that is DESIGNED to heal the body by realigning its natural rhythms. Anything by Chuck Wild (aka Liquid Mind) will help, as will music by Llewellyn and Steve Halpern. All of these artists write music for one purpose: to help the body relax and .. therefore .. work more efficiently.

I can send you some to get you started, if you like. In the meantime, make that doctor's visit!

Not knowing much about you or your symptoms, it's hard to say what it coudl be.

It may just be Irritable Bowel Syndrome , which is very common. For me, the pain would happen shortly after eating and last 2-3 hours, when it was at its worst. If it's IBS, there's a lot you can do, both under a doctor's care and on your own. IBS in itself isn't harmful to your body, but it can get really, really painful.
But FIRST you need to see a doctor and have a bunch of tests run, most of which are pretty simple, to rule out anything more serious like Celiac Disease or Crohn's. They really should do a colonoscopy.

It also could be acid reflux - you'd need to see your doc to test for that. Does it happen more when you're lying in bed?

There is a close link between your stress levels and your digestive system. So anxiety can very easily cause you stomach pain. Also, seratonin is involved in both digestive disorders and depression, so don't be surprised if your doctor suggests a depression med for your stomach pain.

One thing you should consider is whether your pain has any relationship to what kinds of food you eat. Many, many people's IBS is controllable by avoiding certain foods. Doctors don't take this very seriously because it's not something they learned in medical school, but i know dozens of IBS sufferers who found cutting out dairy, fatty foods, or processed foods, etc. resolved their issues.

Good luck, and if you want more info, post a message on the IBS Support Group on WebMD - the more info you can provide about your symptoms, medical history, etc., the more likely someone will have a good answer for you. It's a really great little community.

Try homoeopathic remedy COLOCYNTH, especially if there's something in the recent past that had made you feel angry and/or indignant or embarrassed (my son was experiencing a similar pain to what you have described, on and off for a couple of years. He was really suffering and there was nothing that was really helping, until I took him to a homoeopath, who prescribed Colocynth: it worked like a charm).
It would be great if you could visit a qualified homoeopathic doctor in your area, who'd be able to offer you a completely holistic diagnosis and treatment.
Meanwhile, keep taking deep breaths, all the way into your tummy: don't hold your breath.
But whatever else you decide to do, talk it over with someone - your physician will do, as long as you make him/her aware that it is the CAUSE of the pain that needs addressing.
Good luck.

I had this a couple of years ago. It was especially bad when I was trying to go to sleep at night when my stomach was empty. It would wake me up at night it got so bad. I ended up having a endoscopy (swallowing a tube with a camera on it) but they only found that I was producing loads of acid - not an ulcer or anything. In the end I found that Zantac (ranitidine) worked well and I don't need to take them now. Get checked out by your doctor first, but you can find them with the other indigestion remedies in any supermarket - they're not a pharmacy-only medicine.

Have you been bitten by anything?
I had the same about a year ago, It turned out that I had a tick bite that gave me Lyme Disease.
I didn't find out till it was to late but a course of antibiotics will clear it up. If you have got Lyme it gets worse and worse. You get tired and have a rash.

it is panic attacks or anxiety-how ever you want to word it. they can happen for no apparent reason-some doctors will prescribe zanax to help control it. but you need to see a doctor because there maybe underlying issues causing you to have these-such as hyperthyroidism-a form of this is called Graves disease-there are other symptoms to though. anyway there is a reason you are having these-if you can't soothe yourself and calm them then you really need to find out why you are having them. you might also have an ulcer.

a 'nervous' stomach is common in anxiety but i would go to see your gp to first rule out any physical causes. as i have never heard of people been in pain as you described except maybe with irritable bowel which can be worsened by anxiety.

Try drinking tea specially formulated to stop/help "upset nervous stomach". Drinking tea was one of the best things I've ever started doing. Google your symptoms. You can find tea in your local grocery store.
