I had a job at McDonald's, but all the nice managers quit, and the one that was left was REALLY mean to me, so I quit. I can't afford to attend school right now, but I want to some day. First I have to make money, but I'm kind of afraid to get another job. I didn't really learn anything at McDonald's, because they didn't think I was fast enough to use the till. I don't know where I should work...
Am I pathetic? Sometimes I feel like hanging myself. D:

No, the other four managers were decent people. This woman was insane. She'd scream at both customers and employees.

Living at home at 19 isnt pathetic, living at home when you're 35 is. Dont be scared to look for another job. Thats why a lot of people are unemployed cause they believe they dont have the skills for a certain job but you never know until you go out and apply for it. Try retail.

No not at all. Your just starting to experience life outside of high school. It's tough the first few years. I was 20 and jobless for 7 months. I'm 24 now and have a good job but still live at home. I'm still trying to get finances worked out with new car payments and insurance and credit bills and hospital bills and school.
It may take awhile...get your life together and figure out what you want first.
As for school if you can't afford it and your parents can't afford it you may qualify for goverment grants. Go to www.fafsa.edu.gov and fill out an app. Or if you go up to your local colleges a couseler can help you out with it and it's much easier.
Don't feel pathetic....don't let anyone tell you you are. Some people can get things together earlier than others.
Good luck with life!

nope....your not pathetic. Kinda hard on yourself is what you are though. So ya can't work a cash...big deal. Your not the only one that can't. There's lots of other jobs out there. If you feel the need to work cash someplace why not start with a store that's not crazy like McD's...I don't know how anyone can work there. Try a hardware store or a sports shop or a clothing store, something like that. Relax...your only 19. I lived at home till I was mid 20's...it's not unusual today to see kids still at home into their mid 20's....things are expensive out here. You shouldn't feel rushed to move out just because of your age. Who cares. Just make sure your ready when the time comes. :-)

I am a bit confused, first you can't expect any managers to be nice; that isn't their job. That is also a stupid reason to quit, secondly the easiest way to find a job is when you are already working. Stop feeling pathetic, you are only 19 and you need to get grounded, sometimes leaving home too soon can be detrimental. If you really want to go to college file a FAFSA they have a website and it is free FAFSA.gov , then check with the college and get a list of all scholarships. Stop limiting yourself, don't be afraid to get up get out and get something because no one is going to give you anything. Remember God bless the child who's got his own.

There is nothing wrong with living at home... just help out around the house... and look for another job.. there are other jobs out there and you have fast food experience... go apply at other restaurants.... can you get a loan to go to school? Go to the school guidance office and find out.... that way you can go get your education... and apply at malls etc.. places are willing to train and just because they didn't put you on a till at McDonalds ( their tills are complicated anyway) doestn't mean you can't get one at another place.. look in the paper in the want ad's, employment section.. etc.... just take your time.. and things will happen and don't talk about hanging yourself.. you are worth too much... there are ppl I know in there 20's ... 30's still at home.. working at good paying jobs... and saving money or blowing it on things while they stay at their parents...
take care

You will find another job. Don't give up, there is so much out there for you.
You can go to school. Get a grant if you are eligible.
You are not pathetic for living at home. Where else can you afford to live at this time?

It's ok as long as your working your hardest to not have to depend on other people anymore. Don't give up on a job, the worst that could happen is they don't hire you and then just try a different place. You'll never get a job if you never get out and try. The longer you wait the harder it will get. Don't give up on school either, you'll most likely regret not going.

Dont hang yourself
You can find another job but your parents cant find another child.
19 is still very young and some kids are still in high school at that age.
Try to think about what it is that you do like and think about ways you can pursue those goals.
in the mean time
you might think about volunteering your free time at a hospital or at the ymca to gain experience to put on your resume.
talk to your parents and see what they think.
I am sure that they dont mind you living with them while you find a career that you love just make sure that you are working towards obtaining your goals.
GOOD LUCK
You have so much life to live
dont even think about killing yourself over this
everyone (including your parents has been unemployed at one point or another)

You're not pathetic. You just need resources. Check around for a temp agency in your area. You could probably find work as an office assistant, data entry, filing...call around and ask questions: what kind of people are they looking for? What kind of experience? What's the dress code? For entry-level, what should you expect?
If you have to live at home for a little while, save up some money for a couple of nice suits (for interviews). Look like a responsible adult until you become one...you'd be amazed the psychological benefits of looking professional.
Keep your hopes up. Go make an opportunity. You can do it!

Neither. In this day and age of high cost of living, it should not be pathetic or selfish that someone would live at home past the age of 18.

No it's not selfish or pathetic! Few 19-yr-olds can afford to live on their own anyway.
If yo uwant to go to school, look into grants and loans. You can pay for everything that way.
