Teach your child by demonstrating those qualities in your own life. Your child will learn by watching you. If you help the needy, your child will see that as an admirable quality. If you always look for the positive in things, so will your child. Never say or do anything to your child that you would not also say or do to your best friend.

As the previous answerers have said, display those better qualities yourself. If you want your child to have good qualities, you have to set a good example.

Of course, you also have to associate with other adults and children who have the qualities you want your children to develop.

For example, if you don't smoke, but you have friends who smoke, your children will think it's really okay to smoke. The same goes for drugs, alcohol, swearing, general rudeness, criminal behavior, violence, and any other behaviors you might not want your children to have.

Relatives are a whole different problem, of course. It's hard to justify keeping the kids away from them, unless they are actually doing things that are illegal. But you can explain to your children that just because you love a family member doesn't make what they do the right thing.

Leading by example is the first step, but all parents, including good ones, have bad habits. So for the things you can't show by example, explain what's the proper way to act and talk about a well-known person who has the desirable quality (or lacks it and what consequences they face). It especially helps if they have a favorite sports player, actor, or some other role model that makes a good example.

BY EXAMPLE!!!! Tell your child how to behave. But, the best way you can teach your child better qualities is to DISPLAY those better qualities in yourself! Kids learn what they see and hear from their parents. BE an example!

First off, example is probably the best. Also, read them stories where the good person is rewarded. Or if they're older, you can just give them good books (the classics) to read. Reading really influences character. Watch for and reward good behavior (emphasis on the "watch for" part. A lot of good goes unnoticed.) Give your kids opportunities to do and be better people (more helpful, honest, etc...) Take them on service projects or something.

I say shop modeling the habit you want them to reveal, and reward them while they do use manners. in the event that they're having difficulty with a undeniable way perhaps asking them why and explaining to them why it somewhat is substantial. I worked in a daycare for 2 years, and that i think of youngsters respond to advantageous reinforcement extremely than being advised they're incorrect and punishment. between the a while of two-5 the social skills of studying manners is maximum serious. For grade college and older Anti- Bullying courses which could help build character and conceit. ultimately it sounds extraordinary yet ingesting dinner jointly and imposing table manners. sturdy luck

The best way to showing a child or anyone anything, is leading by example...you're child will mimic what you do....unless he/she is a teenager, they're into that whole rebellious stage, that would be hard to break them out of it. Good luck!
