No one really worships Satan. Those who say they do have been shown to be delusional or striving for attention (especially heavy metal bands).
A satanist is typically someone who follows the tenets of the Church of Satan, which does not acknowledge the existence of Satan. Rather, it opposes the Christian church and its hypocrisy. Adopting the name, Satan (which means "adversary" in Hebrew), is a convenient way of telling the world that it opposes Christianity.
So, satanists do not really give their lives to evil. They give their lives to truth (as they see it, anyway).

Because Christian music pretty much all sucks, but I can dig some quasi-satanic metal.
I should make it clear that I'm not a Satanist. I don't believe in Satan, because that would first require me to buy into all the other Judeo-Christian mumbo jumbo, and I just don't.
The way I see it, everyone dies. There is no literal heaven, there is no literal hell. Our human duty, if there is one, is to try to make this world less like hell while we're on it; to treat others decently without concern for potential otherworldly rewards.
Because, if you're just believing in God and doing right because you want to get into heaven, isn't that actually pretty selfish of you?
"The last temptation is the greatest treason/To do the right deed for the wrong reason."
But I understand. Death is very scary, so a lot of people need to believe in an afterlife just to get out of bed in the morning. A lot of people see all the wrong that's done in the world and need to believe that Someone is watching and will sort everything out in the end, and that everyone will get his or her just desserts.
I don't fault you for this, but don't go thinking that you're special or somehow "holier" than those of us who have fewer illusions than you. Personally, I take comfort in the fact that my life is more than an entrance exam.

Satan, as he is portrayed by christian doctrine is not the same Satan of the "old testament". The Jews never saw Satan as evil, btw, and they still do not. He was considered to be the "challenger".. a "tester" and nothing more.. a rabbi once explained it to me in this way.." Think of Willie Wonka and the chocolate factory. Slugsworth was the villain in the story, but it turned out he was in Wonka's employ all along to test Charlie's honesty."
Greek belief in evil versus good came into play after they conquered Jerusalem (during the time between "testaments") and that is why you do not see this "evil Satan" in the Old Testament" (the lucifer passage was in reference to a babylonian king and not Satan, btw).
As for the concept of hell, that's not a Hebrew concept either. That strictly belongs to the christians.
As for Satanists, most of them do not believe in a literal Satan. They simply use that symbol to protest the domination of people's free thinking by the church. If you really want to learn more about Satanism and what they truly believe, try running an internet search.
The concept of evil does not apply to those belief systems as it is portrayed by christianity.

I think you ought to find out a little bit more about Satanism before you start asking such narrow-minded questions about it. After all, why are Muslims Muslims? Don't they all know that they're going to hell too? Problem is, they don't think of things that way, and neither do Satanists. Satanists don't believe in either heaven or hell. Do some research before you ask insulting questions, will you?

Because Satanists do not believe in a real personal Satan, that is why. They believe far less in a hell.

1) very few really worship a devil.
2) maybe they figure they are screwed anyway, so might as well enjoy it?
3) maybe they figure that if they are proactively in support of evil, that the evil things will like them better and they get a better "spot" or something.
personally I don't even "believe" in an eternal hell. a God that would have humans going to such a place is evil IMO, and I wouldn't worship it.
(and don't give me that "god never intended it for humans" nonsense. its bs)

Why do so many people think that God is something cool? According to the Bible, God killed one planet, one nation, two cities, and millions of other people. Satan killed only 10 people, Job's siblings, and that was because he was tempted by God. Most of us would think these killings are sinful, so God should spend eternity in Hell. In fact, if God and Satan both exist, then God is Satan, because God created everything; so he created Satan, which was an evil act, since creating something that is evil is itself evil. God is the ultimate being, so is the ultimate being of Evil, and so God is Satan. So if you worship God, and if God and Satan exist, then you worship Satan.
It's a lot easier and probably truer to believe that God and Satan don't exist.

Because I believe in Myself. I don't pray for something that will never happen, like world peace. I am the one who controls My life, not the words from a book that is based purely on mythological ideas. I am the one who chooses My future. I am the Dog That Forever Bites Back, forever on attack watching my back.
Hail Satan

Every once in a while, when you make such a wildly inacurate statement, you should try to list a source.
Do you honestly believe that there are a lot of Satanists out there? You sound like Carrie's mom from the movie.
